ABSTRACT

The concept of the smart city is about using smart computing technologies to create a convenient environment for the residence and to improve the quality of living. Mobility and transportation are one of the major characteristics of the smart city, especially for fast growing population cities. Our study focuses on Jeddah city as it's the second large city in Saudi Arabia with more than 3.5 million populations. An investigation for the current transportation system in Jeddah was conducted to outline the issues that cause traffic and congestion. A multi-modal journey planner (MMJP) was proposed based on the requirements specified from the analysis phase. A demo application named (smartITS) was developed to illustrate the proposed solution interface, functions, and features
