IJAREST AI Use Policy for Reviewers
IJAREST recognizes that reviewers may wish to use AI tools to assist in the peer review process. This policy clarifies what is permitted and what is strictly prohibited, with a primary focus on protecting the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and maintaining the integrity of the review process.
Reviewers must NEVER upload, paste, or input any portion of a manuscript into an AI tool. Cloud-based AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, etc.) may store and use submitted content to train their models, which constitutes a serious breach of confidentiality. Manuscripts are confidential documents shared with reviewers in trust.
Violating manuscript confidentiality — including through AI tools — is a serious breach of IJAREST's publication ethics and may result in permanent removal from the reviewer panel.
- ✅Using offline or locally-run AI tools that do not send data to external servers, for general writing assistance in the review report.
- ✅Using AI to help structure and organize your own review comments (without inputting manuscript content).
- ✅Using AI for literature searches on the general topic area (without revealing manuscript details or author identity).
- ✅Using AI to improve the grammar and clarity of your review report text that you have independently written.
- ❌Uploading, pasting, or entering any text from the manuscript into any cloud-based AI tool.
- ❌Using AI to generate the substantive review (the scientific evaluation must come from the reviewer's own expertise).
- ❌Using AI to make the editorial recommendation on behalf of the reviewer.
- ❌Sharing the manuscript with AI tools that may log, store, or train on the input.
- ❌Using AI to identify the authors of a double-blind manuscript.
- ❌Delegating the review task to any AI system or another person.
