Abstract

Industrial drives are simultaneously the major causers and the major victims of power quality problems.
This paper basically deals with the problems caused by these industrial drives such as Field Orientation Control
(FOC) induction motor drive and Direct Torque Control (DTC) induction motor drive. Further, the performance of
different control methods or strategies of Z- source inverter feeding these industrial drives has been investigated. The
results obtained are then compared with those obtained for the conventional inverter feeding the same loads. The test
systems have been modeled and simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results obtained after carrying out these
simulations have been used to draw the conclusions.
