PERFORMANCE STUDY ON BLACK COTTON SOIL STABILIZATION USING EGG SHELL POWDER AND QUARRY DUST

One of the main problem in black cotton soil is the tendency to shrink or swell due to variations in the
moisture content, due to this problem the pavement or any structure constructed over black cotton soil may develops
cracks. Stabilization is vital for improving the engineering properties of soil. Now a day’s various stabilization
methods are adopted to improve the strength of soil
The present study Egg shell powder of 4, 8, 12, 16 percentage and Quarry dust of 15, 25,35 percentage used
as stabilizing material. These waste materials are not only a problem of environmental pollution but also poses
disposal problem. Various tests like Compaction, UCS, CBR, Atterberg’s limits were performed on Black cotton soil.
Engineering properties of soil is improved by adding with egg shell powder and quarry dust. This method of
stabilization effective in economy as well as improving strength of weak soil.
