Abstract

In today’s competitive world, it is very much required for every industry to have proper planning for
successful completion of project. Construction Industry is the second largest industry in the India. Many real-time
problems and issues are being faced by the construction industry, major of them are cost overruns and time
overruns due to inadequate project formulation, improper planning and scheduling. Large projects become more
complex and the ability to exchange information on paper within organization on a timely basis gets difficult. So,
in that case Use of IT solutions can provide better result. GIS is database management software with visualization
tool. GIS has wide applications for all phases of construction project. In this paper, use of GIS in construction
industry, Development of 3D model using GIS Software has been done. Estimation of material quantity is carried
out using ARCSCENE module of ARCGIS 10.3 software.
